M. CHAT brightens up the 6th edition of Les Enfants Arty at Le Negresco on Wednesday, 23 October 2024.
Nice, France.
This Autumn, on the occasion of the next edition of Les Enfants Arty, we are delighted to showcase Franco-Swiss urban artist Thoma Vuille, best known under his alias M. Chat and represented by Paris gallery Brugier Rigail. The artist, who has used walls as memorial canvases since his earliest paintings in acrylics, drew the inspiration for his signature character, M. CHAT, from a little girl’s drawing in Orléans. And so the story began… Very soon, Thoma Vuille’s light-hearted creations spread across walls and rooftops at the four corners of the globe. Fittingly, this project came to Le Negresco, whose history is inextricably linked to the tale of another feline. Carmen, the cat of the late owner Jeanne Augier, gracefully symbolised the spirit of independence, curiosity, and passion that still inspires Le Negresco today.

This exclusive workshop features:
- A feline invasion in black and white: Children will find inspiration in monochrome images of Nice and will be challenged to add their personal touch to the city by filling in the landscapes with joyful figures of M. CHAT.
- A cat in three dimensions: This session will allow young artists to bring M. CHAT to life as sculpture and explore the possibilities of volume and space.
- A collaborative artwork at Le Negresco: Working under the guidance of M. CHAT, the children will participate in the creation of a colossal collective fresco depicting Le Negresco, complete with a plethora of cats, as a symbol of unity, creativity, and free expression.
From 2 pm to 5 pm, budding young artists aged between 4 and 12 will take over the Salon Massena to embrace the creative experience. Under the attentive and caring eye of two Art Kids Company cultural facilitators, the Salon Massena will be metamorphosed into a theatre of exciting and delectable adventures. At 4 pm, the art of pastry-making takes centre stage! Our head pastry chef, Charles Bernard, has promised to make everyone purr with contentment as he unveils an afternoon treat inspired by the whimsical and mischievous M. CHAT.
And for gourmets, the experience extends beyond the workshops, with menus especially conceived by Michelin-starred chef Virginie Basselot. At Le Chantecler restaurant, the ‘La Madeleine de Proust’ menu invites guests on an exceptional culinary adventure for € 65. La Rotonde, the contemporary brasserie, also proposes a children’s menu for € 18. These special menus are guaranteed to appeal to the discerning palate of young gourmets up to 12.
